Episodes of OWL SPACE NINE from Saavik!

Episode One

Deep in the Horka quadrant, An owl station floats in space, a stop
for weary travelers of all persuasions, including wabbits &
Horkons...Captain Lucy & Commander Ricky manage this outpost,
and welcome many visitors to this oasis among the stars. But
things aren't always quiet, and they have to deal with the
occasional bar brawl & attack by pirates. We begin our story in the
Ratz Bar and Tavern, where Leutenant Carrie Royal busies herself
serving the patrons and conversing with a Megacat who has
arrived after a long voyage - after his second squeekeela his story
starts to get weird and her senses tell her he's either full of hork
or should talk to Captain Lucy regarding an event aboard his small
cargo ship.
Episode 2
Tonight on Owl Space Nine - Mystery. After having too much
squeekeela than was good for him, the Megacat spills the beans
on all that has happened since his journey on his ship. After which
he passes out right on the bar. Carrie shakes her head and tells
her helper to keep an eye on him while she goes to Commander
Ricky. She knocks on the door to his office, knowing he's probably
up as he's a day owl. "Come" he says loudly. The door slides open
and she goes in. "Commander, I need to tell you something." The
small ship that has docked at #5 has me concerned." "Yes?  - and
don't tell me another shmaltzed story teller has told you the galaxy
has flipped on it's edge?"
Episode 3
Carrie stands in front of Commander Ricky's desk, feathers puffed
up with indignation. "I know I made a mistake that time, she says.
But this is different." "All right, let's hear it."  She described the
awful nibble marks on the arm he showed to her. "I'm positive he
has killer mutant spacesuit fleas, sir! I've seen them before, and if
they are allowed to spread...." "Say no more" Ricky says. We must
alert captain Lucy!" They move thier tailfeathers to Lucy's
quarters, where she's standing on one leg, gently rocking in an
artificial breeze. Ricky presses a button and she comes to with an
awful squawk, faceplanting onto the floor.

Episode 4
Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Door shenanigans. Commander Ricky
is taken aback by captain Lucy sprawled on the floor. "Well don't
just hork there, help me up!" She squawks. He and Carrie try to
squeeze into the door at the same time, desperately wanting to
help and barely get into the room before losing it, and end up in a
heap on top of  captain Lucy. There's an awful hiss and they
scramble to get up. Eventually they all are on thier feet. Lucy
sighs. "Well, commander? I assume you're not here to get into an
owl pile." He tries to compose himself. "Captain, we may have
killer mutant spacesuit fleas ma'am." Do they get out of the room on their feet? Stay tuned ;)

Episode 5
This evening on Owl Space Nine: Fleaing certain itch. Captain Lucy looks
sharply at commander Ricky & Lt. Carrie. "In the tavern?" "Yes captain, a
megacat showed me the nibbles on his arm." "Well, quarantine his ship,
and him too! We can't have those awful munchers on this station....she
shudders. Get him down to the horkbay and have everywhere he's been
inspected." Carrie and Ricky scramble to obey, and cautiously exit her
quarters, trying to avoid the owl cluster hork they made coming in. Lucy
shakes her feathers and mutters to herself. "Suit fleas, ick! It had to be
suit fleas..." She motivates her tail feathers and goes to the horkbay to
talk to Dr. Deetoy.
Episode 6
Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Owly nerve ends. Carrie & Ricky go
separate ways, Ricky going to the bridge and Carrie back to the
bar. She enters the portal to find the megacat still passed out on
the barstool with his tongue hanging out. "Ick!" she thought.
"Cats aren't supposed to drool are they???" She straitened her
feathers and called her assistant mugato George. "Yes Carrie?"
he asks. "We need to get him to isolation in horkbay and I don't
want to wait." He goes to get a tarp like containment sheet. "I'm
glad this thing has a zipper and a spowlula so I don't have to
touch him!" He says. They place the sheet on the floor beside
the besotted besuited megacat, and with gloves they drag him
off the stool. He lands with a thump.

Episode 7
Moulting Megacat. Carrie jerks
back from the megacat where he's sprawled on the tarp. "Ew-
cat hair!" George looks in shock as Carrie's glove pulls out a
handful of hair. She looks at him in dismay. "This is one of the
symptoms of suit flea syndrome." They adjust the megacat on
the tarp as a team from the horkbay arrive to pick it up. The
medical owlet sighs as he sees the clump in Carrie's hand."You'll
have to come to horkbay now, both of you." He says. "Awww,
rathork!" Carrie says. Then they all spot a movement under the
megacat's suit. "Quickly, let's get him to horkbay before those
things get out!" Shouts the owlet.  They zip the bag to his chin,
then pick him up. Suddenly the cat makes a weird noise and
wakes up with a screaming yowl.

Episode 8

Tonight on Owl Space Nine - Hairless horror. The owlets
carrying the hapless megacat flinch, dropping him and the tarp
onto the bar exit. As he's rowring in fright and thrashing the
fleas begin to exit his suit and squeeze out of the tarp faster
than they can be stepped on. They vanish in every direction,
seeming to know the cracks and crannies hold the best promise
for getaway. "Oh hork, Lucy's gonna kill me!" Carrie squawks.
"Me and you both," says the medical owlet, ensign Updeet.
Looking back down at the cat, they see he's stopped moving
and his eyelids are inside out. His eyes stare, bugged out, at the
ceiling. "Well, we might as well get him to horkbay," Updeet
says.

Episode 9

On Owl Space Nine tonight: Skittlers. As Carrie, George and the
med techs wrestle with the megacat, the fleas continue to exit
the cat's suit. Suddenly the lights start to flicker. "Oh no, they've
gotten into the conduits!" Carrie says. The emergency lighting
comes on. "Come on, we still need to get him to horkbay!" Then
one of the fleas goes into Carrie's sleeve. "Ew!, Ack!" She cries
out and tries grabbing the at little stinker. Then they're all
hopping up & down trying to scratch at the fleas. Many twitches
and jerks later they succeed in getting to horkbay with the
unconcous and balding kitty. Dr. Deetoy meets them at the
door. "Quick!" get him into containment..." Then he sees a flea
peek out from Updeet's shirt.

Episode 10

Tonight on Owl Space Nine : The 7 hork itch. Captain Lucy
comes up behind Dr. Deetoy as the rogue flea pops out of
Updeet's sleeve. Her eyes bug out as it flies away towards the
hallway. "Oh hork!" "It's too late, captain, they're all over the
ship, we couldn't cantain the megacat fast enough."Says
Carrie." Lucy shakes her feathers. "We need to quarantine this
station immediately! Doc, I leave it to you - I'm needed on the
avoid contact with them. Dr. Deetoy orders the group inside to
place the cat on one of the mammal couches.  As they put him
down more fleas make an appearance, causing everyone to   duck desperately.

Episode 11

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Squawk fest.
Captain Lucy is out of sorts, a suit flea nibbling on her under her feathers.
She storms
back to Dr. Deetoy in horkbay, only to find it's in a uproar. Fleas
are flying everywhere. the megacat has been put in isolation,
but not soon enough, as the critters have been flying out of his
suit. She realizes that she must get control of herself despite the
horrid itching and biting. Dr.Deetoy comes out of the office.
"Captain?" he asks. "Doctor, I'm going horky! Can you get this
flea off me?" "All right, Lucy." He pulls out a pair of owl
tweezers and she holds out one wing. He searches using his
specticowls. She tries to hold herself still.

Episode 12

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Tension.! Dr Deetoy scans using his
specticowls over Lucy's wing. Aha! he spots the flea signature
halfway up. The owl tweezers snap up the hapless flea and he
takes it and puts it in a specimen container. Then Dr. Deetoy
then shoos her out before she gets any more on her.  She races
back to the deeterlift to go to the bridge. She finds it works now
and pops in. "Bridge." she squawks. She enters the bridge
finally and heads for the command perch. "Staus report,
Leutenant Dinger." Dinger says "Every deck is reporting flea
activity, captain, including engineering. The guests have tried to
exit  but we've stopped them from leaving. Extra security has
been implemented."

Episode 13

Tonight pandemonium on Owl Space Nine. On the bridge captain
Lucy turns as a donkey with a mask on bursts out of the deeterlift,
scratching himself furiously and twitching awfully. A loud "hee
hawww" is searing the air, puntuated by donkey expletives. "Whoa,"
Lucy cries as the agitated animal comes barreling at her. Then the
donkey yelps "Doc, ya gotta help me! Doc!" "Holy horkupods, it
talks!" Dinger says. Lucy adresses the goofy looking donkey. "This
isn't horkbay! You're on the bridge!" Turn around and get back in the
deeterlift. Tell it "horkbay". The donkey stops, turns around and
disappears into the lift. Lucy looks around, trying to spot any flea
activity near her perch.
Episode 14
Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Donkey Fleas. The donkey
reaches horkbay only to find fleas bouncing around the
room, screwy, panicked owls and a hairless megacat yowling
from a back room, trying to claw his way through the
forcefield to get out. Some of the owls have bare patches in
thier plumage and there is random hissing & squawking.
"Doc!" Brays the donkey. Several owls turn at this and Dr.
Deetoy comes out from the office. "Get in line, Mr. - ?" "Call
me Bandit." "OK Mr. Bandit, I have nothing you want!
"What?" "You have a mask on, I assume your here to rob
me!" Deetoy waves a phaserhorker at the stunned animal

Episode 15

Tonight on owl Space Nine - Doc Shock. Bandit the donkey is standing and
staring at doctor Deetoy, who seems to have gone off the deep end. A nurse
slaps the communication station button, calling the bridge. The
communications owl answers. "Bridge! the nurse sqwawks. "Doctor Deetoy
has lost it! He's got a phaserhorker pointed at a donkey!" The owl, Lt.
Screetch, makes it audible so the rest of the bridge can hear. Lucy lets out a
hiss and punches the comm switch. "Nurse, put me on horkbay main
speakers. Doctor Deetoy, can you hear me?" Deetoy's head comes around
with a snap. "Captain?" A bandit is in horkbay! He's robbing us!"

Episode 16

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Oh, say can you flea. Captain Lucy is trying to calm Dr. Deetoy, who is pointing his weapon at an innocent donkey named Bandit. "Dr., she says, the donkey isn't there to rob you, he's wanting his fleas pulled off. " The doc's eyes widen, then narrow evilly. Meanwhile one of the head nurses comes around the back of her tweaked doc and injects something. Before he can fire he calms down and drops the phaserhorker. He shakes is head. "Oh wow! I must have been allergic to the flea bites! Thank you nurse!""Doc? Yells Lucy. Are you OK?" "Yes, captain, it appears I had a reaction and went bughork." He turns to the relieved donkey, who is staring at him like he will explode or something. "Well now, lets get those fleas off, old chap."

Episode 17

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Pandemonium. In the hallways, guests are
starting to come out, wondering just what is going on and generally getting in
the way. Some however are barricading themselves in thier rooms and trying
old fashioned and varied remedies thinking it will keep them out or get rid of
them, including but not limited to old vashion petrowlian jelly, boric acid &
powdered sugar. The bar has reopened, as the little buggers are everywhere
so captain Lucy believes it will help morale among the irritated clientele. The
megacat is beginning to grow his fur back and is back hanging out in the bar,
Though the other guests are giving him the cold shoulder. One owl horked on
him in the hallway. There was fistywings until security arrived to separate
them. Other than picking the fleas off & medication to keep the allergic
reactions from getting out of hand, no cure has been found to eliminate the
fleas.
Come scratch with us tomorrow :)

Episode 18

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: No visiting fleats. It is 15 days since
the first suit flea jumped out of the megacat's suit. In horkbay, Dr
Deetoy is finding that all the remedies and toxins used to
eliminate the pests are as poisonous for the bugged as the bugs.
Security has been maxed out for the duration of the crisis. On the
16th night, a ship requests permission to dock. It has another
megacat in it, to which the bridge owls let out a groan. "Oh no,
says the communication owlet. He probably wants to come in and
spread more fleas!" "That's enough" Says Lucy.(although that's
what she's thinking too.) "He wants to talk" says the owlet."He'd
better talk smooth, there's a ban on ships coming in." Lucy
straightened on her perch."There better be a horking good reason
why I shouldn't turn you over the the blockade security."

Episode 19

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Cat walk. On the bridge, Captain Lucy
is grilling the megacat docked on bay # 6. "My name is Coelcanth.
I heard you had a spacesuit flea problem. I have the solution if
you'll trust me." Lucy looks askance at him. "What do you mean?"
"I need to get to a friend of mine I heard is here." "You haven't
told me how you will cure our flea problem." "Well, I'd like to talk
to your doc about that." Says Coelcanth. Lucy punches the comm
channel, calling Dr. Deetoy. "Dr? There's a cat docked here that
says he needs to speak with you about a cure for our flea
infestation."

Episode 20

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Cat walk. On the bridge, Captain Lucy

infestation."

 Episode 21

Tonight on owl Space Nine: Sneaky feline foolery. Lucy is on the
captain's perch talking to Dr. deetoy, while a megacat waits in his
small ship at one of thier docking bays. "Well" the doc answers
her query - "We can take any help we can get in my opinion."
"All right, how do you want to do this?" Asks Lucy. Deetoy says -
"Where is the cure? On him or in him?" Coelcanth smiles toothily.
"It's me." The owls on the bridge give him a blank,
uncomprehending stare. Lucy lets out a frustrated squawk. "Huh?
what's that supposed to mean?" She scratches irritatedly. The
whole crew was feeling itchy for so long now that scratching was
second nature.

Episode 22

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Nine Lives. Coelcanth explains that he
will come onto the station and Dr. Deetoy can use him to get rid
of the fleas. Lucy orders security to escort him to the horkbay. 15
minutes later he's in horkbay and asking about the other
megacat, who turns out to be his brother (or so he says.) Dr
Deetoy insists on doing some tests and wants to keep Coelcanth
& bro there for 24 more hours. Suddenly there's noise and
confusion heard on the captain's comm channel. A cat II phazer
blazes and there's squawking and hissing and feathers flying.
Then a loud bang and it grows quiet. "Dr. Deetoy?" Lucy squawks.
"Security to horkbay!"

Episode 23

Today on owl Space Nine: Hissy fitz. Security rushes to horkbay
and finds all the personnel unconcious on the floor and slumped
on equipment. Security owl leutenant Flycatcher punches her
badge to communicate with the captain while the others try to
revive Dr. Deetoy and the nurses. Other security has been
dispatched to go after the megacats. Lucy: "Well, what's going on
Fly?" All the owls are faceplanted Ma'am." "Are they alive?" "Yes,
but we can't revive them." On the bridge, alarms go off as the
port where the cat's spaceship is docked go off. "Captain, the
doors to the dock have been breached!" Says the communications
owl. "Hork, can't we even keep up with them?" Lucy hisses in
frustration.

Episode 24

Tonight on owl Space Nine: Hairballs. The megacats reach the tiny ship and hop in. Security chases after but no cigar. Suddenly it shimmers and vanishes. Lucy lets out a nasty squawk and claws her perch. Expletives sizzle the air and the crew cringes. "Lt. Owlhorka, patch us through to the blockade comander at once!" "Aye aye captain..." The viewscreen switches over to the commander. "Commander Hicklehork, there is a cloaked ship that has escaped with the flea carrier! Why did you allow it in!?" Hinklehork looked sheepish. "He said he had a cure. He was very persuasive." Lucy is about to scold him some more but then realizes she did the same thing trusting the charismatic cat.

Episode 25

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Creeping fear. On the ship that is overseeing the blockade, it's pandemonium. Commander Hinklehork finds things slipping out of his control, as the small but powerful megacat ship has gotten inside the firing range of the larger owl ship and, coming out of cloak, has launched a strange gooey substance that has gummed up the weapons ports and all egress spots on the owl ship. Commander Hinklehork and the crew are in shock as it completely encompasses and seals the hull.
He squawks as the ship shudders. The crew stare in dismay at the main viewscreen as it seems to be consumed, the goo creeping in from all sides until just a tiny dot remains. Then that too is finally swallowed up. The communications owl reports all sections calling in, reporting failing power. Captain Lucy, who has ordered the main viewscreen focused on the blockade command ship, hisses as she sees it engulfed by a terrible blackness.
More later ;)

Episode 27

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Unforseen circumstances. "Holy horkmonsters, captain! Exclaims the helm officer. Lucy hunches over on her perch, for a few seconds stymied. All thoughts of the flea problem trickle away as this emergency develops. "Launch a warp shuttle! We need to find out how to peel that thing off, and the best way to do that is to get a sample! Contact  all the ships in the blockade as to our intentions - we don't want it to be fired upon." Lucy ponders a moment and calls commander Ricky on the comm channel. "Ricky, I need to take care of something so I need you to take the conn while I'm away." "Captain?" He asks.  "Where are you going?" "On the new warp shuttle - something from those horking megacats has engulfed the command ship! We need to find out how to stop it." Suddenly another blockade ship shudders and the owls can see it is also becoming goo covered. The science owl, Lt. commander Sprawk squawks - "Oh my hork, captain, it's spreading!"
More soon

Episode 28

Today on Owl Space Nine: the beginning of an interstellar crisis?
Captain Lucy is taken aback as she watches the ships, one by one, get swallowed up by the horrific dark goop. She is revises her plan to send the warp shuttle to the goopy ship. "Commander Sprawk, can we send a probe to get a sample of that stuff?" "Yes, captain, and we should be able to get some readings as well." Lucy then tells the communications owl to send out distress calls and warnings to others. "One more call to the Federation and neighboring planets can't hurt." Sprawk readies the probe and launches it. Meanwhile Lucy asks the helm owl: Any signs of that megacat ship?" "No captain," she says. They seem to have dropped back into cloak as soon as they hit the command ship. I can't find a trace of them."

Episode 29

Tonight on Owl Space Nine: Horkbay hiccups. In horkbay, Dr. Deetoy begins to wake up, to the relief of head nurse Chapowl. the first thing he sees is her delicate beak and concerned eyes. "Chaps? Is that you? " She chirps. Yes, Doc, it's me. How do you feel?" He tries to sit up, but she pushes him back. "Not just yet, you old fool." He snorts derisively. "Old fool, ey? I can still hunt better than you, missie." Then his beak grinds. "What's happened? The last thing I saw was that molted megacat's claws!" " He's escaped - the other cat, Coelcanth I think his name is - came in, set off some kind of grenade, and yanked Baldie out of isolation and through the door." Dr. Deetoy is crestfallen. "Hork - and left the fleas I presume." "Yes but he stopped long enough to pick some up in a jar." "Uh oh, that's not good!" Then he looks around and sees 4 owl bags on the floor near a corner."Oh no...."
More later!

Episode # 30 Tonight on Owl Space Nine - Sadness and uncertainty. In hork bay, Dr. Deetoy looks up at Nurse Chapowl .
She looks mournful but names the owls who didn't make it through the explosion. He looks around while she talks, registering the damage from the grenade.
Then he looks back at her and realizes her right wing has a big bandage and she's moving stiffly. "Oh Chap, you too?" "It's nothing, I can still work."
Then Lucy appears in the entrance, gazing around at the damage, and sees the owl bags.
She chirps sadly, then comes over. "Doc? then she nods at nurse Chapowl too. Chapowl straightens as much as she can and reports the bad news.  More tomorrow

Episode # 31 On Owl Space Nine tonight - Coming to conclusions. Nurse Chapowl says - "I've been thinking, I want to take some of the younger fleas, ones we've taken off different owls and do a DNA analysis.  The megacats took only the recent specimens." Deetoy's beak clacks, something he does when he's pondering hard. "You want to make a comparison between the new fleas and the old?" "Yes. I have a theory. I believe they used us for incubation -  to turn the fleas into something they can use."
"Ugh, that's disgusting!" Hisses Lucy. "Yes, but I believe it's
the answer to why they came here." Lucy sighs then and informs them about the other ships. "Ah, hork, she thinks - I forgot Chapowl has relatives on one of the blockade ships!"
More tomorrow

Episode # 32
On Owl Space Nine tonight - Sinister motives. The owls left in horkbay shudder as Lucy recounts what has happened. Chapowl nods and remarks - "I'd better get a move on with those fleas." She gets a nod from Dr. Deetoy and hurries off to the lab. Orderly owls carefully take the owl bags and put them in stasis, where they wil be owtopsied and then sent home to thier families as soon as possible. Lucy doesn't like that her job will be to send condolences, "But that is part of being in charge, she thinks, you have to take the bad with the good..." Meanwhile security is going over the damage, searching for evidence and putting grenade fragments in a bag to analyse them for clues.
Lucy departs for the bridge so they can get their work done . More tomorrow !

Episode #33
On Owl Space Nine tonight - The quiet before the hork. Dr. Deetoy insists he feels well enough to tend to businesss, and after a scan Chapowl agrees, though she cautions him on doing too much. He shrugs and meekly acts as though he will. Chapowl goes back into the lab to finish her work. Meanwhile Lucy hurries to the bridge to see if she can take any steps to calm the crisis. In the bar, there are a lot of intoxicated patrons, including the donkey who is munching on whiskey soaked fodder and scratching at phantom itches. One hoof misses his side and lands on a shnockered barred owl who loses no time biting into the offending member. The bray that sounds is loud and grating and stirs up the atmosphere which isn't great in any case.
More soon ;)

 Episode # 34
On Owl Space Nine tonight - Relief valve? Bandit the donkey tries to shake the new puffy, biting appendage latched onto his shin, but it's hissing and clamped and bent sideways. Carrie's feathers poof up as she tries to figure out a way to stop it before it spreads. Too late, another barred owl latches on to the other back foot and Bandit lets a out an awful heehaw, takes off and heads for the exit, knocking drinks and patrons askew. A barn owl in a dark booth in the corner emits a hooting laugh until he gets dinged in the beak by airborne crockery. "Bar brawl!" He screeches and makes a beeline for an old tortoise who is chewing slowly on marinated spinach. The barn owl thinks he can knock the turtle on his shell but gets a rude surprise when he can't get a grip and slides off, faceplanting onto the next table and ending up with his face buried in a plate of dogfood souffle.

Episode #35
On Owl Space Nine: Marinated melee'. Tucker the retriever gets more meat in his souflee than he asked for when an old inebriated barn owl lands in his bowl. For an instant he thinks he should pick it up and bring it to his human but remembers he's on vacation and barks at the offending intruder. The owl gets himself into an upright position and bites at Tucker's sensitive nose, hissing. A terrible yelp splits the air as the dog whips around trying to dislodge him. The old owl loses his grip and lands on Carrie, knocking her into the display of bottles behind the bar. Some anonymous customer screeches about alcohowl abuse and jumps on top of the flapping, squawking mess behind the bar, trying to "rescue" some of the booze by drinking it immediately.
More later

Episode #36

On Owl Space Nine: The chaos spreads like Miricowl Whip. Carrie, who's had enough of the shenanigans calls security as soon as she can extricate herself from grampa owl, tossing him (gently) over the bar into the main area by the bar perches and stools. She removes the opportunistic screech owl from her work area, who is clutching an expensive bottle of Romulowl ale. "I was just trying to help," he says indignantly. "Yeah, sure." She sighs, then peels his talons off the bottle and deposits him on a perch nearby. Meanwhile Bandit has exited the premises and is going down the hallway, braying, feathers and hooting flying every which way. Guests and crew are giving the spectacle a wide berth and snapping pictures and 3V video. Finally security owls make an appearance, wondering how to get the angry barred owls off him. One tries grabbing for the left owl and ends up kicked in the beak by the panicked donkey.
More tomorrow

Episode #37

On Owl Space Nine tonight: Bridge ahoy. As the security guards try dislodging the biting barreds they are running closer to the command center of the station. One owl manages to get to his owlmmunicator and calls for more owls at the now far behind bar. (The reason that barreds are so hard to remove is because they are the "Klingons" of owls. Once they're irritated or excited they fight like the dickens and, like Timex, keep a tickin' after a lickin'. I.E they're ornery.) Finally the security owls let go and one says"Looks like we're gonna hafta stun 'em" Unhappily. She takes out her phazerhorker and dials to the lowest level of "faceplant." Just as they fire, a large door opens at the contact with a donkey nose, and ends up half in/ half out of the door to the bridge. The ray from the phazerhorker hits one barred and stuns the whole pile, but not before Lucy tweaks watching the mess come tumbling to a stop just behind her perch.
More soon :P

Episode # 38
Tonight on Owl Space Nine: A method in the madness. While shenanigans continue with  a dingy donkey and owlcolholic owls, in Horkbay Nurse Chapowl comes across a startling discovery. Dr. Deetoy, now feeling more nosy than injured waddles over to her work space when her feathers puff up. "You found something?" He asks. She turns to him, startled out of her reverie. "Yes, I think I found the reason why we are the only ship not covered in goo." She tells him and his eyes widen. "Of course! We've been guinea pigs!" He goes to the comm and dials in the captain's channel. What he gets is squawking, braying and thumping and hissing. Then "Lucy here, make it quick!" "Captain, it's Dr. Deetoy, what's going on up there?"
More tomorrow ;)

Episode # 39
On Owl Space Nine tonight: Guinea Fowl? Captain Lucy bites off a few expletives as she growls into the conn talking to Dr. Deetoy. "This had better be good!" "Oh it is, captain. It turns out that we were used as guinea fowl -  we've been used to incubate a new species of flea, one that turns into goo after it lays it's eggs, on the outer hulls of ships! Vacuum and cold serves as a hardening agent, so the flea turns into a shell to protect the new eggs. "Eew!" Squawks Lucy. Deetoy contunues amid the ruckus on the bridge. "We need to find a way to eliminate the new species before it can goo up and ruin ships!" "Get on it, Doc! I have my talons full up here." Before she can cut communications, a deep hooting and then "monkey" calls are heard as the barreds wake up (sort of), still three horks to the wind, and tackle Sprawk at the science station. Sprawk struggles up and tries for the old "Vorkan neck pinch."

Episode #40 Owl Space Nine this evening - Dancing with owls. Sprawk twists expertly and pinches one barred owl and it flops bonelessly onto the floor. The other, however, manages so flap out of range and jumps on the engineering owl, who squawks in indignation at this uncivilized intrusion into his personal space. The donkey, half stunned, tries to get his feet under him and gets
an owl to the face. The situation becomes reminiscent of an cheesy "Batman" episode, but definitely without the "G" rating.  Finally the fight dies down when the last barred owl is stunned by a shot from a changrined security owl. Lucy walks gingerly over to it, poking her talon at his wing until she is certain he's unconcious. "OK, take them all to the brig! I've had enough of this foolishness!"

Episode # 41 On Owl Space Nine - Experiment. In horkbay, nurse Chapowl uses a dropper to administer a dissolving agent to a container of frozen vacuum sealed flea eggs she has grown, Dr. Deetoy looking over her shoulder. "Now we wait." She says. "Doctor, do you mind?" "What? Oh." He backpedals. "Sorry. How long, do you think?" "Maybe 15 minutes, maybe an hour." Lucy calls in, wanting a status update. She is much calmer now that the escapades have died down. "Well, Doc, what's up?" "Nurse Chapowl believes she has found something that will neutralize the goo, we're waiting on the results within the hour." "Very good Doctor. Let me know when this happens. Captain out."
Meanwhile in the brig, the donkey stands dejectedly in one room, the barred owls in another. The owls are bickering and have headaches. "I oughta divorce you, Harold, making me drink that frog-leg alcohowl, I've never been so sick!" "Harold is backed into a corner and is looking ill and apprehensive at the same time. He squeaks "But Darling, you know we mate for life!" She retorts - "Oh, shut up, I lost a life in that nasty hole! I'll never drink anything you offer me again!"

Episode #42 On Owl Space Nine - Viola. Dr. Deetoy does a little
jig while Nurse Chapowl isn't looking as she mixes up a large
batch of dissolving agent. He calls the bridge and Lucy lets out
the happiest chirp anyone has heard from her in a long time.
"How much is it going to take to start cleaning up all the ships?"
She asks. "A lot, but we can replicate enough to scrub up 15
ships in a day, but we need something to squirt it with. "A
shuttle's photon tubes maybe?" Asks the engineering owl.
Deetoy snorts. "Yes, If you can get it to take a liquid." The owl's
eyes narrow as he thinks. "I just may be able to. Let me work on
it." Commander Sprawk moves over to help, carefully keeping
away from that personal space the barred owl so rudely got into
during the bridge brawl.
Down in deetention, the donkey Bandit is being patched up by a
medic, sealing those bad bites the barreds gave him while the
two look guiltily on. "We're sorry," says Harold. Bandit brays
derisively at them, then turns his back. "Well," hoots the wife.
"We try to apologize and - hoot, snort, hiss, grumble....blah..."
Harold begins to wonder if divorce is such a bad thing.

Episode #43 On Owl Space Nine tonight - Venus flea trap?
Chapowl gives a medium sample of the dissolving agent to
engineer Flapitz, the sensitive "personal space" owl. He takes the
sample and loads it into the photon ammo module, modified for
the experiment. It only takes an hour or so of tinkering and it's
ready to go. Flapitz touches his communicator, attached to his
breast feathers. "OK captain, she's ready to go." "Acknowleged
leutentant, let's get this show on the road." The helm owl climbs
into the owlpit of the shuttle, and the other owls vacate the deck
before they suck the oxygen from it. The bridge and engineering
crew watch on the monitors as the helm owl, Lt. Chokeoff, uses
the shuttle's thrusters and carefully guides it off the deck and
heads out into space. Lucy scratches impatiently as it heads
toward the command destroyer, which has no sign of life
onboard. Minutes pass, then the shuttle fires, a bright stream of
liquid hitting the hull closest to the station. Slowly, a ring of
incandescent brightness spreads from the central point, leaving
naught but visible hull behind. A moment later, an automated
distress call comes in at the communications station from the
ship. The crew cheers, but it is short lived as all strain their
hearing for the message.

Episode #44 On Owl Space Nine tonight: Chasing goop. A voice
is heard on the bridge of the station, an automatic distress call
recorded in anticipation of emergencies. Captain Lucy orders the
communications owl to open a frequency, hoping desperately
someone on the command ship is alive to answer.  Static...the
crew straining to hear anything, the dissolving agent slowly
eating it's way across the ship's hull. Then "Calling Owl Space
Nine..." Lucy sqwawks - "Owl Space Nine here - Commander
Hinklehork, is that you?" "Yes, captain, good to hear you again!
We almost ran out of emergency power, 2 more hours and we'd
have been toast!" Lucy tells him of the dissolving agent and how
it works, and Hinklehork urges her to make as much she can. "I
can also get you a batch you can replicate too, if this is
spreading as fast as we think it is, we need all we can get!"
"Have you contacted Owlfleet yet?" He asks. Yes, but it will be 4
days until they can get here, and they still haven't been able to
track down those megacats. A ship here and there has been
squirted, but it's random as far as we can tell, no pattern to it."
"Horkilla warfare, then?" Lucy shakes her head. "It seems so."
